IMPACT & SafeSport Certifications
All coaches registered with USA Volleyball are required to be IMPACT & SafeSport certified. Below are notes and information regarding this certification process. SafeSport will no longer be included as part of an IMPACT training class. SafeSport will be a stand-alone training available to members on USAV Academy.
Dates of In-Person IMPACT Clinics in 2018
Wednesday, November 14 - 6:00 PM at the CEVA offices
Saturday, December 1st - 3:00 PM at the CEVA offices
Sunday, December 2nd - 12:00 PM at Stayton High School (Stayton, OR)
Saturday, December 15th - 12:00 PM at the CEVA offices
Option 1 to get certified: Attend a CEVA-Hosted IMPACT Class - Free
CEVA will host several IMPACT classes in various locations in November & December, 2018. There is no charge for certification. Once dates are announced, you can login to Webpoint and click on "My Region Events." Register for the class you wish to attend. The classes are free, but your club will be charged $25 if you fail to show up for the class. Certification is immediate after completion of the course. The deadline to register is usually 5:00 PM the day before the clinic.
Option 2 to get certified: USA Volleyball IMPACT On-Demand Course - Free
USA Volleyball offers an On Demand IMPACT course that can be taken any time via their website. Users can start, stop and save. New for 2018-2019 - IMPACT On-Demand is FREE to current USAV members. Participants must have a valid 2018-2019 membership. Non-members will incur a $100 fee. Click here to get more information. Login to Webpoint and go to the "USAV Volleyball Events" menu on the left hand side of the page. Go to "USAV Coaching Clinics" then register for "IMPACT". To access IMPACT after registering click the red "USAV Academy" button on the lower left hand side of the screen.
Option 3 to get certified: IMPACT Equivalency
Volleyball athletes have a great sense of self-worth, demonstrate better collaboration skills and maintain healthier peer relationships. Unfortunately, sports, including volleyball can also be a high-risk environment for misconduct, including physical and sexual abuse. All forms of misconduct are intolerable and in direct conflict with the values of USA Volleyball.
Along with all USOC National Governing Bodies, USA Volleyball has adopted the SafeSport program as required education for members. CEVA requires all adults affiliated with a junior program to take the SafeSport training. This includes all Club Directors, Club Administrators, Head & Assistant Coaches, Team Reps, Chaperones, Officials, etc.
OBTAINING YOUR CERTIFICATION
- Team managers under 18 in the CEVA region do NOT have to complete a SafeSport certification. However, once managers turn 18, they must complete a Background Screen and SafeSport certification within 30 calendar days.
- USAV has transitioned to a two-year SafeSport certification cycle beginning in the 2018-2019 season. There will be three new courses to complete to obtain a SafeSport certification, and that certification will be valid the remainder of the current season, and the following season. These new courses are currently available in USAV Academy. Each module takes approximately 30 minutes.
- If you do not have a current SafeSport certification, or if you'd like to update your certification for upcoming seasons, follow the instructions below.
1 - Go to https://webpoint.usavolleyball.org/
2 - Log into your USAV account (using the same credentials for your membership)
3 - In the navigation menu, click on USAV Clinics and select USAV Coaching Clinics.
4 - Select Core Center For SafeSport Training
5 - Complete registration for this course
6 - To access the coursework, click on the red "Login to USAV Academy" button.
7 - Should you need to return to your coursework at a later time, just log back into your account and click on the red "Login to USAV Academy" button again.
1 - It can take up to 24 hours for your SafeSport certification to be updated in Webpoint once you complete the courses. Do not attempt this certification at the last minute - for example, don't do this coursework on a Friday night before a Saturday morning tournament. Your certification may not update in time for you to be put on a roster.
2 - At the end of each of the three course modules, you have the option to download a certificate of completion for that particular module. Please download those and keep them for your records. If there is a question about if you've completed the course, these certifications can offer proof. You can also download a certificate on the dashboard of your USAV Academy account. You will also receive an e-mail when your certification is updated in Webpoint.
3 - A valid SafeSport certification means that you have completed all of the modules within the training. There is an introduction in one module, followed by 3 specific course modules. You must complete all of these to be certified and for your Webpoint profile to be updated. Completion of anything less than the full course does not grant certification.
Together we can provide a safe environment for all members to enjoy the sport of volleyball.
