Excel NW 16 Rox wins Presidents' Day Tournament in San Jose

Excel NW 16 Rox won the Presidents Day Tournament in San Jose California, beating every team in two games.  Day one of the tournament 16 Rox met up with Delta Valley 16, the #3 seed in pool play beating them 25-21, 25-20.  16 Rox continued their winning streak throughout the tournament beating three nationally ranked teams including Delta Valley 16 who is currently ranked #26 and NCVC 16 Black who is ranked #23 in the Nation.

16 Rox's powerful hitting, solid blocking and ball control lead the team to victory.  As a team, 16 Rox passed extremely well with six of our players passing above a 2.0.  Great passing allowed our setters to run a powerful offense that had everyone talking in the gym all weekend long. For the finals, 16 Rox met up with Absolute 16, the number #1 seeded team in the tournament, who is also ranked #13 in the Nation.  It was a great match to watch.  Both sides of the net were equally powerful but 16 Rox out blocked Absolute 16 and won the championship game 25-15, 25-22.   Team High Lights Kills: Brooke 80, Nicole 54, Jazzy 51Hitting%: Brooke 508%, Nicole 333%, Jazzy 328%, Haley 326%, Ashley 297%Blocks: Jazzy 21.5, Haley 17, Ashley 14.5, Brooke 10, Rachel 6Passing: Jazzy 2.2, Nicole 2.2, Brooke 2.2, Hana 2.2, Sammy 2.2, Courtney 2.1Digs: Courtney 44, Nicole 42, Brooke 41, Jazzy 21, Hana 21Serve%: Mosier 100%, Ashley 98%, Jazzy 98%, Hana 94%, Courtney 92%, Brooke 90%, Nicole 89%Aces: Courtney 5, Hana 3, Jazzy 3, Nicole 3

Excel NW 16 Rox at 2013 Junior Nationals

JRG 2013 Nat Excel 16 TeamPhotoWeb

After a very successful season Excel NW 16 Rox finished number one in the Northwest. After winning CEVA Regionals, Excel earned a bid to participate in the National Division at the 2013 Junior Nationals in Dallas Texas. The team sent in their season recap...

Excel NW 16 Rox had a rough first day of tournament play. By the time Excel started to play their game, it was an opportunity missed. When participating in the higher levels at a Junior National tournament the first day sets the tone for the rest of the tournament. It determines whether you end up in the top tier or the bottom tier of your division. Excel had moments of greatness and when playing their game, they shined at a national level. Earlier in the season Excel NW 16 Rox attended the Reno National Qualifier. While in Reno they proved they could compete at a national level, beating nationally ranked power house's Vision and Club West.

OJVA 18 Gold at 2013 Nationals

JRG 2013 Nat OJVA 18 Gold TeamPhoto

OJVA 18 Gold played in the National Division at GJNC in Dallas, TX this June. They finished 13th overall, and had some fantastic competitive matches throughout the tournament. Even the matches they lost, the team felt like they were fighting in each set. The level of play is bigger and quicker and our team rose to the occasion each day.

Junior Setter Bathany Kosmowski reflects on the tournament..."Nationals this year at Dallas was a great experience. It was my first time competing in a national tournament and it was mind blowing to see the best of the best compete. Seeing these teams play just goes to show that this game just gets quicker. Being with my team and playing in that environment really brought us together. We had many close games, but we pushed through as a team. We bonded through this experience and saw that we will only get better wherever our volleyball careers take us. I am very thankful that I got to go to nationals this year."
