OJVA 14 Gold played in the American Division at GJNC in Dallas, TX in June and July. Overall, the team improved tremendously as the tournament went on, and ended up playing a lot of very tough competition, with no opponent eventually finishing lower than 30th overall. The 14's finished 21st after winning out on the last day, and wining the Flight 1 division fairly easily.
A comment from 8th grader OH/MH Brooklyn Bevens:"Its seems my whole life has revolved around volleyball. Whether it was my sisters, cousins or even myself playing, I never missed a game. I recently got to play in the Girls Junior National Championship in Dallas Texas. That was the greatest tournament I have ever been to! It was incredible to see all the talent from different states. It was mind blowing to be there with the top most teams in the nation! There were so many courts with so many good games going on, it was hard to not stop and watch. It was a good learning experience not only for me, but for my whole team. We learned to play in the moment, have fun and play our hardest. Even if we ended up losing a game or a match, we knew we put it all out there and tried our hardest. The talent and the skill level was so different from what we had seen before it took us a while to adjust. The atmosphere was also entirely different too, because we were in Dallas Texas! We weren't in Oregon anymore so it was either go big or go home. Being in Dallas for the GJNC was definitely something I want to do again, I hope to get the opportunity next year."
