Volleyball athletes have a great sense of self-worth, demonstrate better collaboration skills and maintain healthier peer relationships. Unfortunately, sports, including volleyball can also be a high-risk environment for misconduct, including physical and sexual abuse. All forms of misconduct are intolerable and in direct conflict with the values of USA Volleyball.
Along with all USOC National Governing Bodies, USA Volleyball has adopted the SafeSport program as required education for members. CEVA requires all adults affiliated with a junior program to take the SafeSport training. This includes all Club Directors, Club Administrators, Head & Assistant Coaches, Team Reps, Chaperones, Officials, etc.
CHANGES FOR THE 2017 SEASON AND BEYOND
- Team managers under 18 in the CEVA region do NOT have to complete a SafeSport certification. However, once managers turn 18, they must complete a Background Screen and SafeSport certification within 30 calendar days.
- USAV will be transitioning to a two-year SafeSport certification cycle beginning in the 2018-2019 season. There will be three new 30-minute courses to complete to obtain a SafeSport certification, and that certification will be valid for 2 years. These new courses will be rolled out later this year. If you have a current SafeSport certification, your certification is valid for this season (2017-2018) and you do not need to do anything at this time.
- If you do not have a current SafeSport certification, follow these instructions:
1 - Go to https://webpoint.usavolleyball.org/
2 - Log into your USAV account (using the same credentials for your membership)
3 - In the navigation menu, click on USAV Clinics and select USAV Coaching Clinics.
4 - Select SafeSport On-Demand: Two-Season Certification
5 - Complete registration for this course
6 - To access the coursework, click on the red "Login to USAV Academy" button.
7 - Should you need to return to your coursework at a later time, just log back into your account and click on the red "Login to USAV Academy" button again.
Together we can provide a safe environment for all members to enjoy the sport of volleyball.
