BEAVERTON, OR (7/14/2024) – A total of 39 teams from the CEVA region participated in the three USA Volleyball Girls’ Junior National Championship events this Spring and Summer – a number that likely set a record for participation by CEVA teams.
The events were highlighted by three Top-5 finishes and ten teams finishing in the Top 20 of their respective divisions. The highest finisher from CEVA was NPJ Salem 14 National, which took home second place in the 14 National division in Las Vegas. This marks the second consecutive year CEVA has had a team participate in a girls’ national championship match. NPJ Salem 15 National (5th in 15 American) and NPJ Salem 16 National (5th in 16 National) also registered Top-5 finishes.
Among teams also finishing in the Top 20: NPJ Bend 13 National (19th in 13 National), Excel NW 14-1 Lux (11th in 14 Freedom), ATHENAVB 15-1 Gold (11th in 15 Freedom), ATHENAVB 16-1 Gold (19th in 16 American), NPJ Salem 17 National (11th in 17 National), ATHENAVB 17-1 Gold (13th in 17 Liberty), and ATHENAVB 18-1 Gold (11th in 18 USA).
Eight of the ten teams who finished in the Top 20 of their divisions played in CEVA’s Open Power League in the 2024 season. One of those teams – as a 13s team – was not eligible to play in Open. 38 of the region’s 39 teams won at least one match at JNCs. 18 of the 39 teams had winning records during their JNC tournament.
Girls’ Junior National Championships represent the traditional end of the USAV season. The 2024-2025 season in CEVA begins with the club activation process, which commences on August 5. Adult memberships will be available on that date, and junior memberships will be available September 3. Girls’ tryouts take place on November 10 and 17.
Next year’s JNCs will take place in Salt Lake City (18s), Kansas City (10s-13s), and Dallas (14s-17s).
