EXPLAINER
This tournament is intended for teams who wish to compete for a bid to USAV Girls’ National Championships. Clubs should only register teams for this event if they are intending to participate in these National events. Ensure you understand the bid acceptance requirements outlined on this page prior to registering.
Please review the USAV Girls Championship Manual prior to entering this event.
FORMAT
Divisions with 8 teams will be split into two 4-team double-elimination brackets, with the winners of the two brackets playing each other to determine the final order of finish. The championship match in 8-team divisions is a single match regardless of how many losses each team has had during the tournament. In 8-team brackets, placement matches will be played out to 6th place – which means in some cases, teams can lose twice and still play another match. Each age group can accept 8 teams.
This tournament is a longer day. Please be prepared for this. Understand the format allows several opportunities for teams to advance into bid-winning rounds.
QUALIFICATIONS & ACCEPTANCE DATES
Teams playing in the Open Power League division will receive priority seeding in the Bid Tournament. Participation in Open is not a requirement to play in the Bid Tournament, but it will mean the team receives a higher seed. After Open teams are seeded, teams from regular Power League are added, in the order of their ranking, to fill the fields.
11s/12s will know if they’re accepted into the Bid Tournament after their Power League on January 25 and once the registration deadline passes.
Final acceptances for 13s/14s teams will happen after the 14s Power League on February 23.
Final acceptances for 15s/16s teams will happen after the 16s Power League on February 22.
Final acceptances for 17s/18s teams will happen after the 18s Power League on February 1.
REGISTRATION
Registration for the Bid Tournament is via AES. More teams will be allowed to register than capacity allows (see note regarding tournament capacity). Teams will not pay the entry fee until they are accepted. By registering, you agree to the policies on this page and in the Junior Handbook pertaining to this event. Registrations are accepted only via AES and will not be accepted by phone, e-mail, or other means.
PAYMENT POLICIES
All 18s teams who have qualified for the Bid Tournament must submit their tournament entry fee via AES no later than 3:00 PM on Tuesday, February 4. All 11s-17s teams who have qualified for the Bid Tournament must submit their tournament entry fee via AES no later than 3:00 PM on Tuesday, February 25th.
Entry fee is $250 per team. A 3% non-refundable credit card processing fee is associated with all online payments. To discourage late cancellations from this event, all teams who qualify for the Bid Tournament will be required to pay the entry fee, regardless of if they participate.
BID ACCEPTANCE
Teams must accept bids earned at this event. If a team earns a higher bid at a later date or already has a higher bid, the bid at this tournament trickles down to the next highest finisher and must be accepted. Teams who do not earn a bid at our Bid Tournament are placed on a waiting list to accept a trickle-down in-region bid later, should one become available. The waiting list is populated in order of finish. Teams asked later in the year if they wish to accept a bid through this process are not required to accept.
BID HIERARCHY
CEVA has one bid (National) in the 11s age group. CEVA has two bids (National & American) available in the 12s and 13s age groups. CEVA has three bids available (National, American, Freedom) in the 14s-18s age groups.
The champion of each age group at the CEVA Bid Tournament receives the region’s National Bid. The second-place team in each age group receives the region’s American Bid. In divisions where a Freedom Bid is available (14s-18s), the third-place team in the age group receives the region’s Freedom Bid.
