Several Rule Changes Coming to USAV & CEVA
BEAVERTON, OR (8/14/2025) – USAV will be implementing several major rule changes in the 2025-2026 season, which will be seen in all CEVA-sanctioned events.
Among the major rule changes:
- Modify the language for the screening rule to prohibit players from raising their hands above the head during service until the ball has passed beyond the net.
- Modify the rule for substitutions to allow 15 team substitutions per set
- Allow multiple contacts on a team’s second hit if the ball is next contacted by a teammate.
- Modify the rule on Libero designation to allow a team to designate zero, one, or two Libers for each set.
The full rule change document, which was shared with regions last week, can be found here. CEVA will be implementing these changes in the 2025-2026 season.
