COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Sept. 30, 2025) – For the first time in history, the FIVB Women’s World Championship, volleyball’s premier global event, is coming to the United States and Canada in the summer of 2027. Volleyball’s rise in the United States has never been greater, and now fans will see the sport’s ultimate stage play out on home soil. The journey to the world title will culminate in Southern California, where Anaheim’s Honda Center and the new OCVIBE entertainment district will host the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship match, an epic fusion of world-class volleyball and unforgettable fan experiences.
Pool plays and the Round of 16 will take place in four additional host cities, two in the U.S. and two in Canada, setting the stage for 32 of the world’s best teams to chase international glory. This milestone event powers momentum for the sport at both the collegiate and professional levels and builds excitement toward the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, where Honda Center will again host men’s and women’s volleyball competitions.
“The FIVB 2027 Women’s World Championship is an exceptional opportunity to partner with FIVB, Volleyball World, OCVIBE and Volleyball Canada to showcase the very best of our sport,” said John Speraw, President and CEO of USA Volleyball. “This event goes beyond competition. It’s about inspiring future athletes, building momentum toward the Games, and celebrating women’s sports on a global stage. Fans can expect electric energy, a fan festival atmosphere and a legacy that will take our love of the game to new heights.”
“We are thrilled that the USA and Canada will be hosting the 2027 edition of the Volleyball Women’s World Championship. Both countries are such seasoned, professional hosts of our sport and powerhouses on the court, too,” said FIVB President Fabio Azevedo. “Our goal has always been to put athletes and fans at the heart of everything we do and with both the USA and Canada being first-time hosts of our flagship competition, we hope to provide new experiences for the global volleyball movement. It is even more special that the competition will serve as a qualification event for LA28, which at that point, will be less than a year away! I am confident that both hosts will deliver an unforgettable celebration of our sport.”
During championship week, OCVIBE will transform into an immersive fan village, blending the passion of volleyball with live music, youth tournaments, interactive fan experiences and a celebration designed to inspire the next generation of athletes.
“Hosting the final phase of the 2027 FIVB Women’s World Championship at Honda Center at OCVIBE reflects our ongoing commitment to elevating volleyball and creating meaningful experiences for our local community,” said Bill Foltz, CEO of OC Sports & Entertainment, which is developing OCVIBE. “We’re proud to play a part with USA Volleyball and Volleyball World to not only showcase the best in women’s sports but also deliver lasting benefits to Anaheim and the region.”
“The 2027 Women’s World Championship in the USA and Canada will be a landmark moment for volleyball,” shared Volleyball World CEO Ugo Valensi. “North America offers the perfect stage to showcase the passion and power of our sport. On the road to LA28, we’re ready to unlock new opportunities and deliver unforgettable experiences for fans in the USA, Canada and around the world.”
“Volleyball Canada and its potential host cities are thrilled with the FIVB and Volleyball World’s confidence in this unique partnership that will see the 2027 Women’s World Championship hosted in Canada and the United States,” said Mark Eckert, President and CEO of Volleyball Canada. “The growth of volleyball and interest in women’s sports creates an ideal environment to bring this display of the highest level of our sport to North American fans for the first time ever. We’re very excited to build on our knowledge of hosting major events, such as Volleyball Nations League, and raise the bar for athletes and fans alike!”
The tournament will create new opportunities for broadcast, sponsorship, and fan engagement, reaching more households across the U.S. and Canada than ever before. Volleyball is already one of the most popular team sports for high school girls in the U.S., with nearly half a million participants nationwide, and is among the fastest-growing collegiate sports. Hosting the FIVB Women’s World Championship in Anaheim cements the region as a premier destination for major international events and women’s sports.
