Girls Bid Tournament Format Changes Approved

BEAVERTON, OR (9/2/2025) – The CEVA Junior Girls’ Committee has approved changes to the region’s GJNC Bid Tournaments for the 2025-2026 season.

Previously, the region ran these 8-team events in double-elimination bracket formats.  Those formats will be no longer used.

The tournaments will still accept 8 teams per age division.  The 8 teams will be snake-seeded into two 4-team pools.  Following pool play, each team will play a single crossover match against the team who finished in the same position in the opposite pool (e.g., first place finishers play each other, second place finishers play each other, etc.).  This format is very similar to a regular Power League date.

If there is a 3-team tie in pool play, those ties will be played out as single-set tiebreaker matches.

The new format standardizes the number of matches each team plays, shortens days, and reduces the likelihood of injury.

The region anticipates having one bid available in the 11s division, two bids available in the 12s & 13s divisions, and three bids available in the 14s-18s divisions.

This information will be included in the 2025-2026 Junior Girls’ Handbook, which will be published in September.
