Oancea & Clark Earn New USAV Officials Ratings

BEAVERTON, OR (7/17/2025) – CEVA officials Sorin Oancea and Greg Clark have both earned new USA Volleyball officials’ ratings during the 2025 national championship season.

Clark earned his National Official rating during the 18s National Championship in Salt Lake City.  Clark becomes the 7th National Official in the CEVA region.  The National rating is the highest officiating rating in our region.  A USA Volleyball National referee is qualified to officiate USA Volleyball-sanctioned competition within all USAV regions and is qualified to officiate at the USAV Boys & Girls Junior National Championships and the USA Volleyball Open Championships.

Oancea earned his Junior National official rating at the 14s-17s GJNC in Dallas, TX.  He is the 6th Junior National official in the CEVA region.  A Junior National officiating rating must be earned through a series of rigorous observations at the Girls’ National Championship, and the official must show proficiency as an R1, R2, and a scorer.  A USA Volleyball Junior National referee is qualified to officiate all USA Volleyball-sanctioned competitions within any of the USA Volleyball regions, including qualifiers and bid competitions, and is qualified to officiate at the USA Junior National Championships and the USA Volleyball Open Championship.

Officials sacrifice their time and energy to earn these ratings, and their pursuit of improvement within the craft shows a strong dedication not only to their profession, but to the members of the CEVA region.

CEVA is extremely lucky to have some of the finest officials in the country working for our region.  Our region’s officiating cadre includes referees with extensive high school and collegiate experience, including officials who have worked at the highest levels of the NCAA Division 1 Championships.  Several of our officials also hold leadership positions within their local high school associations, collegiate associations, and national organizations.  While maintaining these commitments, our officials also serve at all levels of the CEVA administration, including the Board of Directors and many of our standing committees.

Officiating is a rewarding profession that allows individuals to work on their own schedule, earn competitive pay, and meet great people that provide a support system for their colleagues.  If you’re interested in learning more about officiating, we encourage you to visit our website.
