State of Oregon Sanctions HS Boys Volleyball

WILSONVILLE, OR (10/6/2025) – The Oregon School Activities Association today voted to officially sanction high school boys’ volleyball, beginning with the Spring 2026 season.  This represents a historic accomplishment for the sport of volleyball and the nearly 1,000 high school student athletes it impacts – with almost half of those athletes not participating in other high school sports and nearly the same number being from minority and underrepresented communities.  We congratulate all those who were involved in this monumental effort.

The region is genuinely excited for the continued growth of boys’ volleyball and remains committed to supporting that growth however possible.  CEVA has already implemented plans to pause region-owned boys’ tournaments during most of the high school season (with Regional Championships being the only exception).  While clubs are not prohibited from running practices, participating in tournaments, or conducting other sanctioned events, the region will not run boys’ tournaments during this time.

The sport of volleyball continues to show enormous growth & stability, and we’re anxious to continue our support of the student-athletes, coaches, families, schools, and clubs in our region.
